Questions about Health Insurance
Do you accept Medicare?
Yes. I am a Medicare provider and can bill Medicare directly.
Will I have any financial responsibility if I have Medicare?
You are responsible for your yearly deductible and any co payments. Medicare pays 50% of the “customary charges”. Your secondary insurance is supposed to cover the other part. If your secondary does not pay or pays only a portion of the 50%, you are responsible for that portion not covered. We ask that you pay these fees at the time of your appointment. It is your responsibility to know what your insurance covers and what it doesn’t.
Do you accept Medicaid?
No. Psychologists are not reimbursed by Medicaid.
What other insurance do you accept?
We do not bill any insurance other than Medicare. If your insurance is a PPO, we are considered an “out of network provider” and you will be given a diagnosis and receipt that you can submit and get directly reimbursed based on your particular benefits. If your insurance is an HMO, you will probably not be reimbursed but can apply your payments as a medical expense on your taxes. You can call your insurance carrier directly and ask what mental health benefits you have for seeing a licensed psychologist who is not “in network”.
What if I miss an appointment?
We will try to re-schedule you at the earliest opening. However, you are financially responsible for any missed appointment and for any appointment not cancelled within 24 hours. Insurance CANNOT be billed.
Do you offer phone sessions?
Phone sessions are available but CANNOT be billed to insurance.
